Re: 2020 General Chat and Check in

Had to have old Gaia put to sleep today. Had her 12 years, and not sure how old she was when we got her. Shelter said...1-2.

She was diagnosed with FIP...Feline Infectious Peritonitis.

The irony of this disease, it is one of the thousands of varieties of Coronavirus (FECV)...so basically, Gaia died of Coronavirus. A wee smile on that one....

quote:

‘Wet’ or effusive FIP (What Gaia had)
In this form of disease there is accumulation of fluid within the abdominal cavity (resulting in abdominal distension) and/or the chest cavity (resulting in breathing difficulties). The fluid accumulates because infection with FIPV causes damage to and inflammation of blood vessels (called ‘vasculitis’) which results in fluid leaking from the blood into the abdomen or chest. Cases that develop fluid accumulation in the abdomen are responsible for the original name of this disease, ‘peritonitis’ referring to the inflammation that occurs in the lining of the abdominal cavity.

She picked it up most likely from the very over crowded kill shelter we got her from down on the Mexican Border in El Paso, TX. She had Twitchy skin syndrome when we got her, which is an immune issue. We got her in 2008 and what we 'thought' was some allergy or upper respiratory symptoms (Her eyes would water really bad occasionally)...was the virus trying to take over.....year after year. Doc said they don't usually live 13/14 years. She said it was strong immune response from Gaia and our constant care and super cleaning the cat boxes....where it can be spread! AND I SAY...!@#$ here? 5 other cats...in this house. She said, because we had Gaia so long and no other cats are showing any symptoms....that she was probably NOT "shedding" the virus.
Anywho....the symptom that made me take her in....she has always been a very petite girl, and in the last couple years because she was aging, she just got skinnier...as is normal. But in ONE week.....she ended up looking like she was ready to deliver a full litter of kittens!
This is caused by fluid that ends up surrounding the abdomen, sometimes it surrounds the chest area...but they could see no organs when they x-rayed her abdomen to see if it might have been a tumor.
It is ALWAYS fatal once the fluid starts....
Needless to say.....really shitty day here!
I have work to do, and Saturday is very busy....Sunday is of course Father's day, so I may not be around much until next Monday...
YOU ALL HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND.💖

TGIF, folks!

Another hot, sticky one here and veering from sun to clouds. Raining right now.

I finished a small job for my client yesterday and started on another one today. Got half of it done so now I'm playing catch up before I have my dinner.

That's it here...enjoy whatever the day brings you!

Queeny...oh, I'm so sorry about Gaia! I know how much you loved her and you gave her a wonderful life. Hugs to you!

Happy Saturday, all!

It's a quiet one here. Hot, hazy and steamy and supposedly the possibility of rain at any moment, so I'm just laying low and keeping cool in the AC.

Hope everyone else is enjoying their day!

GOOD SUNDAY, FATHER'S DAY...MY FRIENDS!💖

Oh and Happy SUMMER!🌞
Summer definitely decided to show up today. Should be 90 or so, getting hotter this week. No breeze....
Need to clean today, as of course Mom and Dad will be over for Father's Day.....Hubby is grilling steaks, per Dad's request. He also wanted Potato salad, and a Pineapple upside down cake for dessert.
And then I need to get my hair washed before they get here.
So here's hoping you all have a wonderful 1st day of Summer!🌈

SUE....thank you!

Happy Sunday and Happy Father's Day to all the dad's out there!

It's another sunny, hot and humid one here, once again topping out in the mid to upper 80's, so hanging out in the AC again.

Enjoy whatever the day brings you!

GOOD MONDAY, June 22nd MY FRIENDS!

Hope you all had a good Father's day weekend.
Hubby and I cleaned and then had Mom and Dad over here for some grilled steaks (Dad's choice), potato salad and pineapple upside down cake. Then we played a game of Dominos and the men won....so they were happy.🤣
Today is laundry day....and thanks to that crappy fake pressed wood they use for dressers now a days, I have to wash all my pajamas cause they stink like pressed fake wood and chemicals. I forgot to replace the moisture/charcoal thing that keeps the odors at bay. 🙄I knew I should have found an antique dresser, they still had real wood back then!
I THANK YOU ALL....for putting up with me the last couple weeks. :ghug:
On Saturday night, I was outside in the deep night and did a little 'something' to help find my spirit.....I received so much, that I believe I am all back on the right path now. :D:
Anywho.....that is what is on tap for today!🌈

Happy Monday, all!

Hot, humid, sticky...welcome to summer in NJ!

I'm playing catch up as usual...big surprise! Doing a bit of juggling today...putting together the bulletin and working on the latest job for my client. Got the bulletin together pretty easily and even got the feedback I needed from the pastor without having to make my usual twelve phone calls, so that was good. At the same time got all but one of the articles for the client written, so I'll finish that job up tomorrow after I send the bulletin off to the printer.

Not bad for a day's work and now I'm just catching up quick before I have supper.

Hope everyone else has been enjoying whatever the day brought you!

Re: 2020 General Chat and Check in

Week one of work was good, Wednesday and Thursday were a bit slow and we closed early, Friday was a little busier but slower than past Fridays. Saturday and especially Sunday were busy days, we have a Family Chicken Special on Sunday's that is very popular. The boss is very happy with both me and the other new cook he hired, the 2 he fired weren't that well-liked and thought they were better than they really were. The Waitresses were all joking about how strange it is to not be yelled at by the cooks.

Still getting used to the times so once I get used to it I'll get back to posting more often.

Today is one of my days off, we're not open on Tuesdays right now so no work on Tuesday right now. I just relaxed and recuperated from my first full week of work since 2018.

Happy Tuesday, all!

Hope everyone's having a good one. A real steamy one here...up in the low 90's with potential for rain at some point.

After having to make a last minute addition, I got the bulletin off to the printer this morning then finished up the job for my client, so I'm just getting to take a few minutes to catch up.

That's about it here...stay cool and enjoy whatever the day brings you!

A cool and wet day here just enjoyed my day off and caught up on NXT. Using Google Play, I downloaded the WWE Network app on my Kindle which no longer has a working version of the WWE Network in their store. I also got my schedule for the next two weeks, I have next Wednesday Off and the week after I work Tuesday and have Wednesday off.

Tomorrow it's back to work, thinking I might come here earlier in the day.
