A New Iron Man

Following Civil War 2 we will have a new Iron Man, Tony Stark will no longer be filling the shoes of the iconic hero when Civil War 2 ends, this news has led some to question what happens to Stark in the mini series though writer Brian Michael Bendis warns fans not to jump to conclusions.

Set to replace Stark as Iron Man is 15-Year-old Riri Williams, an MIT student who has already built her own armor in her dorm room. Not only is the new Iron Man a female, she will also be African American.

Brian Michael Bendis, who will continue to write the series, has stated that since he has created Miles Morales, Jessica Jones, Maria Hill and others there is a level of trust among the fans who might have reacted badly had someone else been behind the creation of Riri Williams.

Re: A New Iron Man

This trend replacing characters with ethnically diverse ones is really starting to annoy me. Of course I have nothing against diversity of all kinds, but this not the way to do it.
You can put this girl in armor and Morales in Spider suit and have woman holding Mjolnir, but no matter how you tell they are now Iron (Wo?)Man, Spider-Man and Thor, we still love the original characters and those aren't just the suit but Stark and Parker and... you know, real Thor.

OK, it's been proven you can swap character, Green Lantern and Flash being the best examples. There's a crapload of Robins. But more often than not that goes bad or at least is soon switched back.

To have more women, ethnic minorities, gays, handicapped and whatever I'm missing, Marvel should just create entirely new characters.

Also, 15-year-old? Another trend that annoys me. Sure, Marvel has always had plenty of teens, but those have rarely been among my favorites.
