Charlotte Riley, Ben Chaplin, and David Suchet will star in the upcoming BBC One series Press, which is being co-produced with Masterpiece. Created by Doctor Foster’s Mike Bartlett, the six-episode series will air in 2018 in the UK. Tom Vaughan of Victoria and Doctor Foster, will direct the series.

The series is set in the world of competing London newspapers and will deal with the digital age and the 24-hour news cycle.

Riley will play a News Editor of The Herald, a fictional paper, while Chaplin will play the News Editor of a rival paper The Post. Suchet will play the Chairman & CEO of Worldwide News, which owns The Post.

Also in the cast, Priyanga Burford who will play The Herald’s Editor; Paapa Essiedu as The Post’s newest reporter; and Shane Zaza as the Post's its News Editor. Ellie Kendrick will be a junior reporter; Al Weaver an investigative journalist; and Brendan Cowell will play the Deputy Editor at The Herald.
