TV Line's latest Blind Item

TV Line publishes a story once in a while called a Blind Item where they tease a potential development and this one teases that an hour-long drama series on one of the Big 5 broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, The CW) could be killing off a fan favorite character in the first episode of the new season and that they will be an original member of the cast. They go on to reveal that after the character is killed the series would jump back two months to see what led to the murder.

The site continues by limiting the number of shows to 9; THE EXORCIST, The Blacklist, Supergirl, Blindspot, Scorpion, Designated Survivor, NCIS, Scandal, or Elementary.

They do stipulate that this storyline depends on the Powers that Be so it may not happen.

My guess is it will not be Supergirl or NCIS as the purposed plot line doesn't fit with their storytelling style, plus NCIS is down to only 3 original cast members from the first episode. Elementary seems a bit of a stretch given their later start time added to the change if storytelling style it would be. Designated Survivor could work but it's more a political drama with an investigation into the bombing and the people behind it so it would seem a bit odd with the show.

My money would be on Scandal, which is ending this season; Blindspot, which came down to the wire for their renewal so it could be the shake up the show needs; The Blacklist, and The Exorcist, which is replacing most of the cast anyway.
