Re: The Shannara Chronicles

MTV appears to be undergoing a shift as they are cutting back on scripted shows as part of Viacom's reshuffling recently as part of that reshuffling, The Shannara Chronicles is moving to Spike TV, soon to be named the Paramount Channel, the reasoning for the move is that Spike has more viewers than MTV.

This move leaves MTV with only the final season of Teen Wolf and a shortened season of Scream, which will serve as a reboot for the show.

Re: The Shannara Chronicles

they did such a good job of hiding this series, that season 2 got over before I even realized that it had [sign in to see URL] tried to watch it on the Spike on demand app on my tv or on my Roku, and they only have the last 5 episodes of season 2, the first 5 episodes of the season aren't available...

However, season 1 is available on Netflix, so I guess we'll just have to wait to see if season 2 eventually makes it to Netflix as well...

and MTV/Spike basically killed the audience for the show with moving it and then not advertising for it...

Season 1 averaged about 1.7 Mil viewers per episode (combined live/DVR, not sure if that count includes watching online on the MTV/Spike app, or how it did on Netflix)...

Season 2 averaged about 0.7 Mil viewers per episode, averaging about [sign in to see URL] Mil viewers live...

Re: The Shannara Chronicles

I had heard that Spike is changing their name soon, and since I saw no mention of when the 2nd season was coming out, I assumed that it would premiere after the name change of the [sign in to see URL] I assumed wrong.

Why would a small network like Spike have a show run at the same time as the major networks Fall premieres? The main reason why people even first discovered shows on things like SYFY, USA, TNT, etc was because the main shows were on hiatus and viewers were looking to find something to watch until the big shows came back...

Well I didn't miss Season 2, it was awesome! Wasn't thrilled with the ending until they threw a major twist in at the end which I hope is leading to a Season 3.

I agree, while I haven't had the time to watch the series I had heard of season 1 and knew when it aired for season 2 I had no idea when it started.

I can only assume it comes down to the fact that the whole company is working on this reshuffling and "reboot" that things fell through the cracks. Likely hoped the fanbase would follow the show around

The word was out there when season 2 started up. I think it was even on IMdb, although they aren't always the most reliable source.

Word can be out there but not easy to find, Season 1 I didn't have to look for anything about when and where to find it, it was everywhere. With Season 2 most people had to look for it
