Re: The Musketeers

Episode 3 - Brother's in Arms

Wow what an episode.. I was on the edge of my seat through out it. The boys sure don't disappoint. Now where to start...

I'll begin with Constance. As I have said I had bad vibes from her in 1 & 2, they have only gotten worse now. Her visit with the Queen was very unsettling.. She doesn't want to be a soldier's widow or raise a soldier's orphan??? Sounds like she is regretting this marriage.. Now I wonder is she going to try and get D'Artagnan to leave the Musketeers? Maybe give him an ultimatum?

That brings me to Aramis.. Nice job of going with Treville and the others to testify about Gaston. No, you go hang out and watch the Dauphin play. I think the Queen is quite over him. Man she cut him off cold with that line "Then go do it."

Gaston and Feron.. I don't know which one creeps me out more.. Feron probably.. I think we will be seeing a lot more of both shortly. And poor Louis.. he is dying.. Treville took that news hard.. He may have his issues with the King but you can see he loves him in his own way.

That leaves us with the battle and our guys. Athos just continues to make me smile. Captaincy fits him well. And Porthos... bravo for standing with Treville. He just made me smile. Once again however Constance tweaked the Captain of the Red Guard. She is making an enemy and I fear it may come back to haunt her.

This was just and excellent episode. I can't wait to watch it again and see the things I always miss the first time around.

Re: The Musketeers

Whew...well that was a hard one to digest and didn't help that the feed kept cutting out a lot today.

The political intrigue in this one was hard to follow, I'll definitely need a rewatch, but we did learn a few interesting personal details...

The King is dying, which explains his odd behavior in the first couple of episodes.

Constance is having second thoughts about being a Musketeers wife. We had hints of that up to now but now we know for sure why she's been acting the way she has. Makes you wonder how things will work out for them.

The Queen and Aramis finally came face to face and she's looking a little upset with him. I'm thinking she's just looking out for the best interest of her son, but could be more to come there too. I did love how she cut down Captain Marceaux...she is definitely not going to get suckered in by anyone again after Rochefort! Good for her! And poor Aramis is still longing for the life he can't have.

Treville was definitely kicking ass in this one. I felt for him in the scenes with the King...I think he's genuinely upset about the King's health but also trying to do what's best for the country...and his men. Loved seeing that he still had his soldier mojo though. And LOVED seeing Porthos standing up for him...sigh!

And the flirtation between Athos and Sylvie continues. Wonder where that's headed? It's so not what we expect from Athos. I was glad to see Treville remind him of his need to step up and be Captain. As I thought, that role isn't comfortable for him, which is in keeping with the books, but he did well when he finally stepped up.

As for the baddies...things just continue to get deeper, darker and murkier...yeesh!

Re: The Musketeers

So Hubby and I just "bing watched" the final season of the Musketeers....
I'm happy with how they left it....
I was beginning to tire of the ever increasing bodies piling up about the castle.
But the boys came out well in the end...♥
