Ask Ausiello
Question: Any juicy scoop about Season 4 of The Killing? —Katrina
Ausiello: Bullet (played by Bex Taylor-Klaus) may be gone, but she will not be forgotten when the six-episode final season drops on Netflix on Aug. 1. According to series creator Veena Sud, the teen’s Season 3 death will continue to haunt Holder. “That was a game-changer in terms of Holder’s life,” she explains. “Up until that point, he was a homicide detective who had not lost anything in the course of his work. So now he’s kind of walking through that crucible that Linden has walked through, that many homicide detectives have walked through.” Sud promises that there will be “a final moment” that will honor the Bullet-Holder relationship.

Ask Ausiello
Question: I’m a little disappointed Linden and her mom didn’t share a hug in their final scene together on The Killing. It really seemed like the scene was heading in that direction. I’m curious if a hug was shot and just not used?—Jaime
Ausiello: There was never a hug. “I think to have had a hug, or [any] physical gesture of forgiveness, would’ve felt false,” explains series creator Veena Sud. “Linden gave as much as she could in that moment by asking the question that was hanging between them, and giving this woman an opportunity to respond. But I don’t know that everything is repairable between people — especially in this situation.”

Ask Ausiello
Question: Thank you for the awesome Killing post mortem with Veena Sud. One burning question I had — did she ever consider killing off Linden? —Jacob
Ausiello: Yes, it was considered, although Sud adds it was never “seriously” explored. “But, certainly, it was a thought over the years. My feeling was, in order for the story to end, Linden either had to continue down this dark road, or find her way out of the valley of darkness. And I felt that Linden, deserved the latter ending. I didn’t want to kill her. I love her too much. And after everything she’s been through, she deserved some peace.”
