Kyros looked over the woman as Arthur picked her up. As they traveled to the camp he had spoken of the girl, a daughter of one of Arthur’s knights, Leodegrance, who had been kidnapped while traveling from his home to Camelot where she would marry Arthur. The Attack had left two of Arthur’s knights and two of Leodegrance’s men dead, but thankfully a number of the attackers were also killed so Arthur was able to figure out who was behind the attack. Clearly what he had left out was that she was his friend’s adopted daughter and was now immortal. He Followed Arthur, who was himself following Dagonet, as the group made their way out into the day light. The fighting was now over as most of the men were dead, with no losses to their side, the leader of the camp was lying on the ground halfway between the house and the gates, an arrow through his eye. After setting the buildings on fire, the group made their way back down the path towards the direction they had come, the rest of the day was spent in quiet ride as everyone collected their thoughts after the morning’s battle. With the Sun coming down, Arthur ordered the group to make camp which finally allowed Kyros to speak with his two friends. “One of us?” Theseus was looking over at the girl who was hungrily ripping into a loaf of bread. “Surprising, isn’t it.” Kyros replied. “So what do we do now?” Achilles followed their gaze. “Well, Balan,” Kyros used the alias he gave Achilles earlier. “We’re going to stay if they’ll have us. She’s going to have questions and what better way to protect her and teach her then pledging ourselves to serve King Arthur.” The trip to Camelot took another two days and in that time Guinevere had regained her strength and Arthur had welcomed the three men happily. The rest of the trip was far more talkative then the first day as they joked and bragged about accomplishments, even Guinevere was opening up and joining in, showing why Arthur had been so taken with her. When the group reached the walled city, Kyros was impressed with what they had been able to do; it was clearly a former Roman fort that had a town built up around it. Kyros was pretty sure he had been here a few times in the past as he had traveled with the Emperor through Britannia. A large crowd had gathered and cheered as they approached, once again he felt the presence of an immortal and quickly located the source, standing on top of the outer wall he was glad in gray robes and was holding a staff. When they finally entered the inner wall the group dismounted and was greeted by another group of knights who had been waiting for their king. Kyros stood back to allow friends to reunite before they were led over to the three new comers for introductions. Again he felt a presence, but this time of a pre immortal and was soon meeting a young woman; her hair was dark and contrasted with her pale skin, her eyes were brown but betrayed the power behind them, she was clearly someone important. “Welcome,” the woman smiled politely. “I am Lady Morgana La Fey, Arthur’s half sister.” “It’s a pleasure to meet you,” Kyros bowed and kissed her hand. “Come, we’re having a feast,” Morgana turned and ran back into the castle. “Careful of that one, Ninian,” A voice spoke from the shadows behind him. “You two go on, I’ll be right there.” Kyros waved off Theseus and Achilles before turning to face the man from the outer wall. “Hello my friend.” “It’s been a while,” the man smiled as he took hold of Kyros’ hand. “Almost 50 years, Emrys,” Kyros had last seen him when the two men helped smuggle the dethroned Emperor, Romulus Augustus, out of Rome with the help of Mira, another immortal. Emrys led Kyros into the Castle and towards the grand hall as they caught up with what each other had been doing. The Feast was just getting underway as the two men entered the room, Theseus and Achilles were already seated and starting to drink, Morgana was waiting for him near the back of the room and led him towards one of the empty seats next to Arthur and Guinevere, after taking his seat she took the seat next to him and soon he was enjoying himself as Emrys watched from his spot behind Arthur. “My friends,” Arthur stood up and quieted the room. “A Toast to our new friends, Lancelot, Balin and Balan, thank you for helping rescue our future Queen and welcome to Camelot.” The Crowd erupted in applause as the three men acknowledged the cheers; the feast soon got back underway and Kyros took a drink from his cup and looked over at Guinevere who smiled back. Sometime soon she would learn what she was, but better to put it off until after their wedding, today was a time to celebrate there was plenty of time to get back to reality. Tristan had left early to scout ahead leaving the rest of the party to follow along, moving as silently as they could through the forest. Kyros had joined Arthur in the lead as the rest of the group trailed behind; everyone was alert and ready for anything. The group soon came to the edge of the forest, with out running into anyone, and reunited with Tristan, who was crouched in the tall grass, at the top of the hill looking down at the camp. Joining him Kyros looked down at the camp Arthur had told him about; the kidnappers had settled in an old Roman style villa in the center of a walled complex, likely built to house the Roman Governor before the Roman’s pulled out of Britannia. There were three other buildings that Kyros could identify as the Barracks, the dungeon, and the armory; the grounds were unkempt and the building itself was showing clear signs of being run down, but from where he was, he could see a number of men walking the grounds. “You’re girl will either in the main house or the Dungeon to the right of the main house,” Kyros whispered to Arthur as he also looked down at the camp. “I haven’t seen her, my King,” Tristan confessed. “How do you want to proceed?” “A straight assault would be foolhardy,” Arthur looked at the front gates; there were two men on the wall at the gate watching the road into the camp. “If I may,” Kyros had been checking out the wall while the two discussed their plans. “Of course Lancelot,” Arthur replied. “The Wall is crumbling in the far corner, we should be able to get through the wall there,” Kyros pointed towards the Corner to the rear of the complex. “We’ll have to be ready to start fighting right away; we won’t be able to get in with no one noticing. The Best Fighters will need to go in first to hold the line as everyone gets in. Also wouldn’t hurt if one or two men could distract them by shooting some arrows into the camp if you have some archers.” “I can do it,” Tristan volunteered. “Balin is a good archer too, if you have some extras,” Kyros pointed towards Theseus. “Okay,” Arthur had made up his mind and turned back to the rest of the group who were hiding behind them. “You and Balin will stay here, when you see us in position you’ll start shooting, kill as many as you can. The rest of us will use the forest as cover to get around the camp with out them seeing. Once they react to the arrows Lancelot, Balan, Bors and Dagonet will be the first four in, the rest will follow; once we’re all in we kill everyone who fights us and then rescue any hostages.” Kyros and Arthur led the group through the Forest towards the back of the walled complex; no one spoke a word as the group moved as silently as they could. It took the small band of knights most of the morning to make the trip finally arriving in place with the sun high in the sky. As Kyros had predicted the wall was weak with a small hole but not large enough to sneak through, Dagonet pulled out a large axe and stepped up to the hole and as soon as Theseus and Tristan started firing arrows into the camp, he swung the axe causing several bricks crashing into the grounds, with one more kick the hole was large enough for him to go through. Kyros pulled out his weapons and followed Dagonet through the hole to see that he had already split one man’s head open with an axe and just killed another, leaving the axe impeded in the man’s skull as he pulled out his own sword. Kyros didn’t pay any attention to who came in after him, moving right into the battle cutting his way through any of the attackers who came at him. Achilles suddenly drove his sword into the neck of the man he was fighting and moved off to find someone else to kill. The speed of their attack on the small group had caused a panic in many of the men as they chose to flee, those who stayed tried to hold their own but was no match for the highly trained men. Once the major fighting was over Arthur and Kyros went to the Dungeon where a short, thin man stood; he was clearly scared to death at the sight of the two men in front of him. Rather then listen to him, Kyros reached back and decked him with a punch that sent him through the door. “Weak door for a Dungeon,” Kyros laughed. “I’m sure he would have opened it if you asked,” Arthur looked down at the man who had fallen down the flight of stairs. “You think so?” Kyros shrugged as he walked down the stairs into a long hallway which had another door at the end of it. In front of it stood a larger man clutching an axe who appeared to be about to open the door but stopped when he saw Kyros enter. Reaching his free hand behind him he pulled out a knife and slowly walked down the narrow hall with Arthur behind him. “You think he’ll be nice?” “Doesn’t hurt to ask,” Arthur doubted it but wasn’t up to having a fight with no place to move. “If you would be so kind, could you open the door?” Kyros held his Gladius in front of him and his other arm was down at his side holding the knife. The man merely grunted as he held his axe at and angle, making it clear he would kill the first one who went near him. “I thought so.” Coming to a Stop, Kyros could hear Arthur take a deep breath, preparing to fight but Kyros knew the likelihood of him even being involved was slim to none, not before the man went through him. Before the man could make any move, Kyros flung his arm up releasing the knife as it pointed towards the man. Not expecting the move the man made no effort to get out of the way and was hit in his large neck, seeing his opening Kyros charged forward and drove his sword into the guard and crashed through the door and laid on the man for a moment as Arthur entered the room followed by Dagonet, who had followed Arthur into the Dungeon. With their backs turned Kyros pulled the tip of the axe out from the gap under his chest armor and stood up to join the two men. “Where you wounded?” Dagonet looked over to see the front of Kyros covered in blood. “No, the big guy had a lot of blood,” Kyros pointed back towards the now dead man lying in front of the door. As he did so he felt the presence of another immortal, looking behind him he couldn’t see his friends so he knew it couldn’t be them. Walking past the cells he looked for the Immortal, coming across the bodies of dead prisoners until he came across a young frail looking woman, her boney hands where clutching her head as she looked up to meet Kyros’ eyes. “This one’s alive.”nondisclosed_email@example.com (Rogue9a)Thu, 06 Jun 2013 22:42:24 +0000 Highlander 1.5 King Arthurhttps://broguesholonet.runboard.com/p48348,from=rss#post48348https://broguesholonet.runboard.com/p48348,from=rss#post48348Highlander King Arthur 520 BC England The group of men were riding north with a purpose, there was six of them all together and all were well armed. Kyros wasn’t sure where they were going but his curiosity was peeked as was his companions. The three men had been traveling through the country they had known as Britannia for nearly a month, for Kyros it was nice to just ride with no location in mind; it had been a long time since he didn’t have anywhere he wanted to go. The group had decided to see where the other group was going and spurred the horses north to follow, being sure to stay back so they wouldn’t be discovered. The group came to the top of a hill and found the six men engaged in a battle with a much larger force. “Looks like they’re in trouble,” Achilles sat tall in his saddle, his blond hair tied back to keep out of his face. A Student of Kyros from before the days of Troy they had vowed never to be on different sides in a battle again. “Maybe we should help,” Theseus smiled as he leaned forward in his saddle, he kept his dark hair short and like the others wore black leather and light armor. “It has been a while,” Kyros like Achilles was sitting tall in his saddle; it had been several months since his last fight. “Let’s have some fun then,” Achilles pulled his sword from where it was kept on his back. Kyros followed suit and pulled one of the twin Gladius’ he wore on his back and spurred his horse into a gallop towards the fighting. Theseus laughed as his friends raced each other to the fight, pulling his sword out from where it had been hanging on his saddle he raced after them. Kyros was the first to arrive and lifted his leg over the horses head and fell to the ground in a run and cut into the unprotected body of one of the attackers. Achilles fought from horseback for a while until he jumped off taking out one of the men closer to him. Theseus slipped off the back of his horse and joined Kyros, who had now pulled out his second Gladius and was now fighting with two swords. “So person with the most kills drinks for free,” Kyros shouted over the sounds of swords hitting. “You’re on,” Achilles replied “Why not,” Theseus stabbed a charging man. “That’s two.” “Only two,” Kyros decapitated one of his attackers with a backhanded swing as he plunged the other sword into the neck of another attacker. “I’m on ten.” “Not as many as me,” Achilles seemed to dance through the falling bodies his bloody sword cutting through everyone who came near. “He always wins,” Theseus pulled his sword out of his last kill to see that the battle was winding down. All six of the knights they had been following had survived but the attackers weren’t as lucky. Most of them had been killed with only a handful fleeing into the woods to escape. “It’s not my fault,” Kyros wiped the blood from his blades on a piece of cloth that had ripped off of an attacker’s clothes. “Sure it is,” Theseus elbowed his friend’s side as they watched the younger man mop up the bodies. “You trained him.” “Thank you my friends,” a younger man stepped forward and approached Kyros and Theseus. “We are indebted to you.” “It was our pleasure,” Kyros took the young man’s hand. “We happened to be following your tracks and saw that you needed help.” “You were following us,” The man seemed alarmed. “Not for anything evil or anything, we were intrigued that six armed men would be racing north,” Kyros confessed. “We are on our way to rescue the daughter of a friend of ours,” the man motioned back towards his men. “I am Arthur, King of Camelot.” “Greetings, I am Lancelot,” Kyros used the name he had taken from his time in France. “And I am Balin,” Theseus bowed slightly. “That’s Balan,” Kyros motioned to the approaching Achilles. “Greetings to you all,” Arthur shook each of the men’s hands before motioning to his own men. “The tall man is Dagonet; the big man next to him is Bors; that is Gawain and our scout Tristan; finally we have my brother Kay.” “Nice to meet all of you,” Kyros looked over the group and was impressed with how they looked. “You are welcome to come with us,” Arthur climbed up to his horse. “We’re bound to run into more trouble like this.” “By all means,” Kyros climbed up on to his horse and once everyone was ready the group rode off to the north. ***** The Trip took the rest of the day as they stopped to set up camp while the sun was going down, by Arthur’s estimation the enemy camp was on the other side of the woods where they had set up their camp. Kyros had set up his stuff near a large tree and started to clean his swords from left over blood and sharpened the blades to keep them sharp. Arthur’s men had kept their distance, which didn’t bother him too much as he worked on one of his swords. Most of them were already laid out for sleep as the men Arthur called Bors and Dagonet were sharing a drink of what Kyros could only assume was some kind of ale. Arthur had sat off by himself leaning against a tree appearing to be in deep thought. Achilles had already fallen fast asleep under a log that was held up by the tree it had fallen onto; Theseus had taken Kyros’ lead and was cleaning his sword as well, choosing to set up in the open, leaning back into his saddle. Finishing his swords he lay back against the tree and soon drifted off to sleep, his thoughts turning into dreams of the past. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Rogue9a)Thu, 06 Jun 2013 22:40:07 +0000
