Re: Highlander: Alls well in the mouth of Hell

Sunnydale, Cal.
July, 1998

Finn Cahill knew he was close; his quest to kill the evil S.O.B, Polvinsky was almost over. For almost 500 years he had made it is mission to kill him, ever since he stumbled across a convent in France with everyone inside brutally murdered and now he had cornered him in this town. All he had to do was find him, which shouldn’t be to hard since Sunnydale wasn’t that big. Rounding a corner he had the feeling that he was being followed, which was a bit strange in this town, since arriving he had learned that very few people were out after dark. To be followed after sundown didn’t feel right to him, turning another corner he entered a playground and rather then go around he had decided take a short cut and cut across, he had a lead that Polvinsky was at a bar near by so he wanted to hurry he didn’t know how long Polvinsky would stick around. As he ran across the park he saw two figures standing near a light on the basketball courts, slowing down he began to have a bad feeling that came from having over 2000 years of experience, reaching into his coat he gripped his sword, a two handed Ivanhoe that he had designed himself. Coming to a stop he felt the need to spin around, coming face to face with what appeared to be a man, only his face looked like something out of a horror movie. Wasting no time he swung the sword at the man to drive him away, the two other men ran forward to join the fray, it didn’t take long before Finn knew he had little chance to defeat three of these things. Taking his chances he swung high taking the head off the closest thing to him and watched as it burst into dust. As he turned to face one of the others, he felt something leap onto his back followed by a sharp pain in his neck. With his strength draining he was able to take the head of the thing in front of him. Falling to his knees he started to feel the familiar buzzing of a near by Immortal, stabbing the sword backwards at the thing on his back, he heard the thing scream in pain, turning around he pulled the sword from the chest and sliced off its head. His world spinning he saw a figure approaching, he knew at once it was Polvinsky, trying to get back to his feet his thoughts raced. He had violated his teacher’s first lesson; never let an enemy get at you from behind. His next thoughts turned to his long time lover Catlin who would with out a doubt come after him.

“Well, well, well.” Polvinsky sneered. “Look who’s here, This will make things much easier.”

“He’ll come after you,” Finn gasped.

“Let him come,” Polvinsky swung his sword through the air cutting Finn’s head from his neck. “I’ll be waiting.”

The sky erupted with Finn’s Quickening as it ripped into Polvinsky, filling him with Finn’s power. Once the storm was over Polvinsky disappeared into the night.

Chicago, Ill.
The next morning

Kyros sat at the desk that sat in the center of his large office, not really employed by anyone or anything; he used the office to look over his finances and the large collection of artifacts he has acquired in his 4000 years of life. As he looked over the paper work involved in moving some of his collection from Paris to his recently restored Roman Villa in Rome, his long time friend and watcher James Ryder walked in, looking up from his work Kyros can tell something bad has just happened as he places a plain manila folder on the desk in front of him. An older looking man, Ryder was in his 50’s with a slightly heavy set build, he was a member of a secret origination who watches and records immortals and has done so for thousands of years. They had first met in 1994 when Kyros came across a group of renegade watchers hell bent on killing him. Ryder had helped kill off these hunters and informed Kyros of the order. Since the ordeal with Joe Dawson and Duncan Macleod, Watcher-Immortal relations had become less strict, still frowned upon its no longer banned which allowed the two men to become friends. Kyros had even heard of a watcher and immortal becoming lovers which of course led to the watcher being reassigned to another Immortal. Taking the folder Ryder had tossed on the desk, Kyros looked it over betraying no hint of emotion.

“So Polvinsky got Finn,” Kyros sighed. “He’s getting to strong, how did he defeat him?”

“Our man on Polvinsky reported that he was already injured when Polvinsky showed up, but he saw no one around,” Ryder took a seat in one of the chairs facing the desk. “We didn’t have a man on Finn yet, his old watcher retired 2 weeks ago we were working on replacing him.”

“Have you seen these pictures?” Kyros asked. “The puncture wounds on the neck.”

“Yeah, we aren’t sure just what they are; they remind of us a Vampire bite though.” Ryder replied. “Not sure why someone would fake vampire bites though, I know Polvinsky is a son of a !@#$, but that’s not his M.O. Though anyone who would rape and kill a convent full of Nuns might be a little extreme.”

“You don’t think it was a Vampire attack,” Kyros asked

“Vampire’s aren’t real,” Ryder laughed.

“This coming from a man who watches men and woman who live forever,” Kyros stepped away from the desk, tossing the folder back to the desk. “You’d be surprised what’s out there in the shadows.”

“You saying Vampires are real,” Ryder asked

“I’d hope so,” Kyros smiled. “Otherwise those guys I saw in Romania have some explaining to do.”

Re: Highlander: Alls well in the mouth of Hell

Sunnydale, Cal.
Four days later.

Kyros stepped out of the rental car he had picked up in Los Angeles; he had stopped in front of a small hotel which had been the same one that Finn had stayed in according to the reports he had been able to obtain. Gathering his gear he walked into the lobby and approached a young man who was seated behind the front desk, on the short side the kid had a kind of a geeky look about him. Setting his stuff on the floor at his feet he leaned forward, “Hello,” Kyros looked at the kids name tag briefly. “Jonathan, I would like a room.”

“Ok,” Jonathan seemed to be a little shook up over the fact he didn’t hear or see Kyros enter the lobby, he didn’t think he was that engrossed with the computer. “How many rooms will that be and for how many nights?”

“Well one at least and I’ll say 4 nights,” Kyros smiled plainly.

“Okay then, here are the keys to room 103,” Jonathan handed over the keys allowing Kyros to pick them up and put them in his pocket.

“Thank you,” Kyros pulled out a 50 dollar bill. “Here’s a tip.”

Jonathan eyed the 50 dollar bill in front of him before looking down the hall where the stranger had gone. He was carrying two bags along with narrow cylinder draped over his shoulder. When he entered the room Jonathan looked back at the 50 in his hand before placing it in his pocket.

Setting his stuff on one of the beds he opened up one of the bags and pulled out the file on Finn’s death, the Watchers weren’t able to get to the body so it had been taken to the morgue by the cops. They didn’t seem at all disturbed by the idea someone having two puncture marks in his neck and having his head sliced off, and judging on what he had been able to learn about the town it wasn’t that much of a surprise. Tossing the folder to the desk Kyros finished unpacking his things and sat at the desk, letting his mind drift as he thought about Finn.

Flashback:
Gaul
Summer 18 BCE

The field was littered with bodies of the dead, many were Gauls who had enough of Rome and attempted to fight the mighty empire. The battle had raged for days before the Gaul’s general withdrew his forces. Standing alone, Kyros hadn’t come into the field just to feel the blood soak through his boots; he had felt the presence of an immortal which drew him into the field to seek out the mystery man. Keeping his eyes peeled he came across the body of a young man covered in blood but with no visible wounds, as he was looking him over the boy gasped his eyes flying opening as he tried to get away from him.

“Great a new one,” Kyros groaned at the man. “So are you going to sit on your ass in this field all day or you going to get up and come with me.”

“What?” the kid looked around in shock seeing the fallen bodies and then looking down at his chest. “I was, I was dead.”

“Yes and now you aren’t that’s the way of the world,” Kyros walked towards him and held his hand out. “Best come with me, you’re going to need some answers.”

Present
Sunnydale, Cal
July, 1998

Setting the photos aside he picked up the phone and dialed the number he knew from memory. He had been trying to recall what the time was in Paris when he heard the other end pick up and the tired voice of his oldest friend cursing.

“Yes,” he groaned. “Someone had better have died.”

“Methos,” Kyros smiled as he pictured the scene that was likely playing out. Methos sound asleep in a pair of boxers, at least according to Amanda, suddenly looking for the ringing phone thinking of ways to kill the caller. “Finn’s dead.”

“Damn, Kyros,” Methos’ voice didn’t lose its edge. “You know I know that already, I was a watcher.”

“Yeah I know,” Kyros laughed. “Listen I’m in Sunnydale.”

“What in the name of Hades are you doing in Sunnydale,” Methos was fully awake now. “You don’t think Polvinsky is still there?”

“He’s here,” Kyros looked towards the window. “Polvinsky knows I’d come here after Finn died to pick up his mission, what better way to get us off his back. Anyway you have to know Catlin will come running, if he’s here waiting I need to get to him before she does.”

“Yeah, she wouldn’t stand a chance,” Methos agreed.

“The reason I’m calling is I need the name of your guy here in Sunnydale,” Kyros got to the point of the call. “I would gather from the wounds that Finn was attacked by some Vampires before Polvinsky killed him and that’s not something I like the idea of.”

“If he’s using vamps to get the job done he’s going to have an advantage,” Kyros could hear Methos digging for something on the other end of the line. “Here it is, Rupert Giles. He’s a Watcher, not one of ours he watches the Slayer or trains potential slayers. He is the watcher for a girl named Buffy Summers one of the slayers.”

“One of?” Kyros was a bit surprised. “There is only one.”

“Yeah most of the time,” Methos replied. “Ms. Summers was apparently dead long enough to trigger the new slayer but was revived.”

“She was revived, not an immortal?” Kyros stood up and walked to the window, as far as he knew Slayers couldn’t be immortal.

“Yeah, Giles called me up as soon as it happened,” Methos knew what Kyros had been thinking. “I flew out to check and she was still mortal, not even a preimmortal.”

“That’s good to hear,” Kyros let out a sigh as he imagined an immortal with all the powers of a slayer. “I don’t even think there has ever been a case of a slayer turning Immortal.”

“There hasn’t,” Methos confirmed.

“Okay,” Kyros saw the dark hair of a young woman leaving a car and turn towards the building. “Catlin is here, I have to go.”

“Good Luck,” Methos hung up first as always. Putting the phone away he went towards the door just as the buzz of a near by immortal hit him. Entering the Lobby he saw Catlin looking around for the source of the buzz. As soon as she saw him she ran to him and embraced him in a tight hug.

Waving Jonathan off, he led Catlin towards his room and sat her at the edge of one of the beds. Taking a good look at her, he could tell she had been crying, her eyes red and swollen. She didn’t look like she had slept in many days either, her dark brown hair was unkempt and she wore no makeup. Catlin Roberts was still a kid compared to him, just a few years shy of 50. She had been killed in an auto accident in 1985 and by a twist of fate Finn had been there at the scene moments after it happened. He had been able to get her body out of the car and away before anyone else came by the scene. In another stoke of luck the car burst into flames along with the truck that hit it, by the time the cops and fire fighters got to the location, some back road in the middle of no where, there was little left outside the charred skeleton of the cars frame. He had met her a few years after that, after she had become Finn’s lover.

“Why are you here Catlin?” Kyros already knew the answer but he asked anyway.

“You know why I’m here Kyros,” Catlin rarely used his real name often calling him by his alias at the time. “I’m after the man who killed the man I loved; I’m going to finish his quest.”

“Leave Polvinsky to me Catlin,” Kyros lowered himself so he could look her in the eye. “He’s too good, you can’t take him.”

“He’s not superhuman,” Catlin shot back. “Just has to be one bad day and he’s dead.”

“True,” Kyros conceded. “But you don’t get as old as he is by having many bad days.”

“You won’t talk me out of it Kyros,” Catlin stood up. “I’ll kill him.”

“I won’t stop you,” Kyros stood up and reached into his pockets. “But I won’t stop looking for him myself and if I see him first he’s mine.”

Re: Highlander: Alls well in the mouth of Hell

With Catlin off to the Morgue to pick up Finn’s things Kyros set about to find his killer. Pulling into the nearly empty parking lot of Sunnydale High School he counted his blessings that the only people around were kids taking Summer School and teachers cleaning up their classrooms, he made his way towards the library where he had been told he could find Rupert Giles. The Library looked much like what he had expected a school library to look like. A large table, covered with books, filled the center of the room with an upper level behind it containing rows of bookshelves full of books. To his left file cabinets lined the wall up to a caged area that likely held things Giles didn’t want people to get into while on his right was the check out desk, with an office behind it. From where Kyros was standing he could see a tall middle aged man standing with his back to the doors seemingly talking to someone. When the man stepped to the right to get something he could see a young red haired girl seated in a chair surrounded by some books clearly looking something up. As he was looking her over she looked up and locked eyes with him a quick look of fear passed over her face before she seemed to remember where she was, the man in the office soon came back over and looked out of the window before coming out to greet Kyros.

“Hello,” the man was dressed as a typical British museum curator wearing a pair of wire rimmed glasses and dressed in a white shirt and vest, his sleeves were rolled up but Kyros knew he likely had a suit coat somewhere in the office and a pair of pants that matched the vest; he smiled warmly and spoke with a southern upper class British accent as he reached out his hand.

“Mr. Giles,” Kyros extended his hand to shake the other’s hand. “I’m Jack Dawson, Adam should have called you.”

“Ah yes Mr. Dawson,” Giles led him towards the large table in the center of the room. “Don’t worry, she’s a friend.”

“Of course,” Kyros pulled a file out of the messenger bag he had with him and set it on the table. “I believe these are Vampire bites and if that is the case it troubles me.”

“Let’s see,” Giles opened the files to see a headless body, getting over the shock of seeing the body he flipped to the next photo which was a close up of two puncture wounds on the neck. After examining the wounds for several minutes he put the photo down and pulled his glasses off to wipe them with a rag. “Yes, I can see why this might be a problem.”

“So they were done by a Vampire,” Kyros collected the photos and closed the file.

“I would say yes,” Giles nodded. “But I never heard of any Vampires cutting off someone’s head.”

“That wasn’t done by Vampires,” Kyros packed away the photos. “Listen, I’m looking for a guy. He’s Russian, dark hair would be about my height, would have come in a couple days ago?”

“I haven’t seen anyone like that,” Giles shook his head. “Does he have something to do with the body?”

“Short answer,” Kyros looked back towards the door way. “Yes, after Vampires attacked him.”

“I haven’t heard of anyone new using Vampires in town,” Giles rubbed his chin thoughtfully. “I’ll have Willow do some digging on the computer.”

“Willow?” Kyros looked back at the red head who had clearly been listening in as she hurriedly got back to what she was doing when he looked at her.

“The girl in my office, she is quite good at finding things on that dreadful machine.” Giles half smiled

“I know the feeling,” Kyros pulled out a card with some writing on it. “You find anything call me here.”

“What if this man is using Vampires?” Giles asked quick before Kyros could leave. “The Slayer isn’t here.”

“I know,” Kyros had learned in advance that the slayer, a young girl named Buffy Summers, had run away after being accused of murder. He hoped he didn’t have to deal with Vampires as well as Polvinsky but he had enough experiences with them to know how to deal with them. “Trust me, I know how to deal.”

*****

Catlin sat alone in the sterile white waiting room of the coroner’s office waiting for the Medical Examiner to hand over the belongings of the man who had been her teacher as well as her lover and best friend. She had no expectations of seeing his body, she may have been young but she had taken a couple heads now so she knew what happened, The M.E. wouldn’t want to traumatize her by showing her a headless body. With nothing to do her mind was left to wander and think back on her time with Finn. She could still remember the first time she met him, looking all dashing in his suit while she was covered in blood and the remains of a tattered dress.

Hanover, Kansas
October, 1985

She was surprised as she woke up, the last thing she remembered was the headlights of an oncoming car seconds away from hitting her side of the car. She had fully expected to have been killed, but she was clearly still alive and not even in her car anymore, and above all else she wasn’t even in pain. Not being dead she could at least understand, not all crashes ended in death but she should be in pain, the other car would have struck hers at the drivers side door. But there was nothing, just the feeling of a soft bed, much softer then any hospital bed she had ever been in, the more she became alert the more she was able to take in about the room she was in which confirmed that she was not in any hospital, at least not any of the ones she would have expected to be brought to. Sitting up she found that she was covered in dry blood with a hole in her dress dead center but other then that there appeared to be no signs of trauma or any cuts and bruises of any kind anywhere she could find. The sudden buzzing in the back of her head brought her out of mental debate and she soon found herself looking up at a tall light haired man. He was dressed in a gray suit with his hair neatly cut, nothing like what she normally saw around town.

“Good you’re awake,” his voice had a slight British accent, not an accent of someone who lived in England but more along the lines of someone who used to live there but had lived away from the country. The man laid a pile of clothes on the bed and stepped away. “I got your size from the dress, I hope these fit alright, I’m not much of a shopper.”

“What happened, where am I?” Catlin was even more confused then she had been when she woke up.

“You should clean up,” the man seemed to know how she was feeling but didn’t answer her questions. “I have food ready, I’m sure you’re hungry, and then we’ll talk.”

Re: Highlander: Alls well in the mouth of Hell

Sunnydale, Cal
July 1996

Catlin had been led into a small room that was the same as the waiting room, only with a large table in the center and a door on the other side. Soon after she had been brought in a tall man with a medium build dressed in the white lab coat that Doctors tend to wear walked in through the other door carrying a box that he set on the table in between the two of them. The Doctor said nothing as he emptied the box on the table and just as quickly as he had arrived he was gone, leaving Catlin alone once again. Laid out on the table was Finn’s wallet along with his watch, Ring and the pocket knife she had given to him; gathering them up she placed them in her purse and left the building. She had silently hoped Finn’s sword would be among the stuff they found, but she knew the odds had been slim. A sword lying next to a headless body would be picked up by the police as evidence, which would mean it would be at the police station. She placed the personal objects she had collected from the Morgue in the car she had arrived in and pulled out a long coat that she slipped on. Now that she had done what she had come to do it was time to hunt down Polvinsky, while she didn’t know for sure where to start her search she did learn enough about the killer from Finn to know a bar would be the best place to start her search. Pulling a photograph of Polvinsky out of the car she walked towards the bar that was across the street from the morgue.

*****

Kyros had the same idea but unlike Catlin he knew what bar to start with, Willy’s appeared to be a regular bar but it had a different cliental then most bars. Willy’s was a regular for demons, Vampires and other assorted monsters; it was the perfect place to look for a killer like Polvinsky. The place was pretty much empty when he walked in, only a single human behind the bar, but other then that it looked and smelled like every other bar he had ever gone to.

“You Willy?” Kyros stepped up the bar.

“Who wants to know?” the smaller guy on the other side of the bar replied.

“I need some info and I was told this was the place to get it,” Kyros stood with both hands on the bar to appear unthreatening.

“Listen man,” Willy leaned closer. “I don’t deal in the information business anymore, it’s too dangerous.”

“I wouldn’t worry,” Kyros reached into his coat pocket and put a photograph of Polvinsky on the bar. “The guy I’m looking for isn’t a regular, he’s new, would have started appearing a week ago. He’s Russian so you can’t miss him and if you help me out and tell me where I might find him you won’t have to worry about him coming after you cause he won’t be doing much of anything.”

“Okay,” Willy looked down at the photo but didn’t display any signs of knowing him. “I would try the motel over by the tracks; word is there is an angry Russian guy over there.”

“You hear about this angry Russian guy working with Vampires?” Kyros put the picture back into his pocket.

“Nope,” Willy replied as he went back to wiping down the bar. “Believe me, if someone were working with Vampires I’d know about it.”

“Thanks for the info,” Kyros left two hundred dollar bills on the bar as he turned to leave.

“If you don’t mind me asking,” Willy quickly pocketed the cash like any snitch would. “What did this guy do?”

“He killed people who shouldn’t have been killed,” Kyros stepped back out into the mid afternoon light and made his way back towards his car.

Outside Hagen, France
Fall 1560

Kyros had stayed on his horse, while Finn Cahill approached the front doors of the convent. The two of them had been approached by a local man who had asked them to check out a near by Convent as no one on the town had seen any of the nuns for a couple days. Never one to turn down a request for help, Finn had talked Kyros into coming along on the trip which had included two more men selected by the sheriff of the town. Once the group had arrived Finn had dismounted while the rest of them waited, Kyros knew at once why no one had seen the Nuns and he could tell that Finn had also realized it. Kyros at 4000 years old was no stranger to death and knew what it smelled like, Finn may not have been as old but he also knew what death smelled like. Once Finn opened the door, Kyros dismounted and pulled out one of his swords as he approached the doors behind Finn. The two others had followed Kyros’ lead clearly sensing something was wrong. The group walked down the main hallway that led from the Parlor pausing to look down each of the two hallways they passed on their way to the church at the end of the hall. Reaching the doors to the church the group paused to collect there thoughts and then opened the doors. The Two men behind him instantly gagged when they saw what had happened to the nuns. Each woman had been brutally killed and then laid out head to foot to form a cross, if that wasn’t bad enough the murderer had left a calling card on the altar in front of them written in blood and read Nicolai Polvinsky in Russian. The scene was disturbing even to Kyros; it had been centuries since he had seen anything like what was laid out before him. Finn however was visibly angry.

“Kyros, I will kill this man,” Finn came up from the crouch he had been in to check one of the bodies. “I swear it.”

Re: Highlander: Alls well in the mouth of Hell

Sunnydale, Cal.
July 1998

Catlin had found the likely location for Polvinsky and was now silently approaching the hotel where she had heard he might be. She knew it wouldn’t make much difference since he would sense her arrival as soon as she was able to sense him, but it was still better then just marching up to the building. Just as she suspected as soon as she crossed the parking lot she felt the unmistakable buzz of another immortal, rather then go door to door to try and find him she simply stood in the almost empty parking lot and waited. She didn’t need to wait long before a tall dark haired man stepped out of one of the rooms and when he saw her, a cold smile formed on his lips as he slowly shook his head.

“Now I should have expected you,” the man said with a slight Russian accent. “But I was hoping the old man would come.”

“He’s here,” Catlin pulled the saber that Finn had given her to use as her sword. It was light which allowed her to be quick with her attacks and reinforced so wouldn’t snap against a heavier blade. “But he won’t get a chance to kill you.”

“Such strong words,” Polvinsky stepped out into the parking lot to close the gap between the two. “Normally I don’t bother with kids, but I’m board and you’re here.”

Catlin could barely believe the speed he had pulled his broadsword out from under his jacket and went on the attack. Ducking under one of the blows she was able to slice her blade across his thigh causing him to curse as he nearly fell over after losing his balance. Taking advantage of the opening Catlin moved forward attempting to follow up her strike with another. Taken aback at the strength of her attack Polvinsky found himself on the defensive struggling to block the faster strikes with his longer and heavier broadsword. Despite her success Polvinsky betrayed no signs of worry as he blocked another swing, he was older and far more experienced then the girl attempting to kill him, it was that experience that led him to know his surroundings even as he fought for his life. Coming to a stop he sidestepped her attack and used her momentum to push her from the platform they had found themselves on to the ground 15 feet below. In her blind rage she didn’t notice that he had backed her into a train yard and to the platform on top of the 2 story building that housed the offices.

“I have to applaud you,” Polvinsky stuck his sword under his arm as he slowly clapped on his way down the stairs to the cement floor where she had fallen. “I had expected to be finished long ago, almost be a shame to kill you now.”

“Go to hell,” Catlin struggled to get back to her feet, her left arm had clearly been broken in the fall and her left knee was in bad shape making it hard to stand on.

“Oh my dear,” Polvinsky stopped a few feet in front of her. “There is no other place for me.”

Lunging forward Catlin surprised Polvinsky by stabbing him in the gut, but leaning against him she was unable to pull her sword out to attempt to take his head. Stepping back she spit in his face as he swung his sword through the air and sliced her head off with a clean blow. With his victim’s sword still run through his body the air around him exploded with the quickening causing windows and light bulbs to shatter. Once the quickening was over he fell to his knees and pulled the sword out from his gut and tossed it towards Catlin’s body. Before he could recover the buzz of another immortal erupted in his brain followed by the arrival of a shadow standing on the platform above.

“Polvinsky, you’re next,” Kyros’ voice was cold and betrayed no hint of emotion.

“You have me at a disadvantage,” Polvinsky groaned as he slowly got to his feet.

“You seem to think I’m MacLeod,” Kyros came down the stairs that Polvinsky had come down just moments before, a Roman Gladius in each hand. “I’m not that honorable, thought you knew that.”

Polvinsky wasted no time as he quickly swung his sword at Kyros’ neck and missed as Kyros ducked under the swing and drove one of his blades into Polvinsky’s right side piercing his lung. Coughing up blood Polvinsky staggered backwards trying to get stay a head of Kyros. It was a mortal wound; he could feel himself getting light headed from the loss of blood and knew he wouldn’t last much longer. The sound of a train whistle from an oncoming train drowned out his gasping as Kyros followed the dying man towards the train tracks. Staying on his feet he came to a stop at the edge of the train platform over looking a three foot drop to the tracks below and turned around to face Kyros. “Are you that much of a coward you don’t want to face me when I’m 100%”

“You’re one to talk,” Kyros couldn’t believe Polvinsky was saying what he was saying. “There can be only one.”

As Kyros prepared to swing his sword at Polvinsky’s neck a train sped down the track sending a gust of wind in its wake causing Kyros to shield his eyes from the blowing dust. Polvinsky no longer able to stand fell backwards into the train and fell into an open train car and was carried away from Kyros who stood on the platform for several minutes watching as the train moved further out of sight. Putting his swords away, Kyros walked over to Catlin’s body as the sounds of sirens started to fill the air. Picking up her sword he left her body behind and left the train yard before the cops could arrive.

“Well I’m happy no Vampires were involved,” Giles remarked as he wiped his glasses.

“Seems a shame to waste your time,” Kyros finished packing up his things and looked over at the large urn that he had placed on the desk.

“So what will you do with their remains?” Giles followed Kyros’ gaze and looked at the plain urn.

“Finn made is intentions known,” Kyros sighed. “He wanted to have his ashes scattered in his homeland and Catlin would want to be with Finn. I’ll head to Paris before I go home and follow his wishes.”

“What about this Polvinsky?” Giles put his glasses back on as his thoughts turned to the killer.

“He won’t be a problem,” Kyros closed his suitcase and turned towards the window. “He is long gone. But I’ll find him and then he’s as good as dead.”

The End…
