He was born Peter Aurness in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on March 18th, 1925. His mother Ruth was a a journalist, and his dad Rolf Cirkler Aurness, was a Norwegian who worked in business. His older brother was famed actor James Arness of Gunsmoke.
He attended Southwest High School graduating in 1944 and then moving on to the University of Minnesota after a two year stint in the Air Force. He married his wife Joan in 1950. She would remain at his side for the rest of his life.
His First major role would come in 1951's Rogue River where he played Pete Dandridge. His last role would be a Video Game called Darkstar due this year. In all he would appear in over 130 films, Shows and Video Games.

He was going to be in the first movie, but when he found out what happened to his character he declined.

Re: Peter Graves Dies at 83
Don't really blame him......besides, it would have been weird watching him as a different character (I imagine he would have been, right?)..
