He may have been celebrity only here in Finland, but the career(s) of Tony Halme is so colourful that he deserves some introduction.
He first appeared in Finnish version of American Gladiators. Around the same time in early 90s he was professional wrestler in Universal Wrestling Federation, New Japan Pro Wrestling, World Wrestling Federation (as Ludvig Borga; he was the only Finn ever in WWF) and Catch Wrestling Association.
After that he moved to professional boxing with final record of 13 wins and 6 losses. He held twice Finnish Heavyweight title.
He also tried MMA, in his only fight losing to Randy Couture.
Halme also had small role in Die Hard 3 and did couple domestic movies. He wrote few books (though I assume in the sence celebrities usually "write") and even made a record.
As the most unbelievable twist in the whole story, Halme was elected 2003 to Finnish parliament. After problems with alcohol and drugs, not to mention law, Halme was eventually forced to retire after couple years (but actually due his deteriorating health).
The cause of death is yet undisclosed but sadly the likely options are suicide, overdose or the general damage from long substance abuse.
