WWE has finally signed Io Shirai to a contract, the 28-year-old superstar had originally been on track to sign with the company last year but a neck injury discovered during her medical exam with the company caused the deal to fall through. While still young she has extensive experience working in Japan and Mexico and has worked with NXT's Kairi Sane in Japan's World Wonder Ring Stardom where she defeated Sane to win the company's top title.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider Elite reported, via Wrestle Zone's Michael McClead, that Brock Lesnar will not be wrestling at SummerSlam this year, where he was expected to wrestle Roman Reigns, Again, for the Universal title.

Re: Some Wrestling News

New Japan Pro Wrestling's major show in San Francisco Had its moments such as NXT reject CJ Packer winning the IGPW US Championship under his current Ring Name Juice Robinson, followed by some scathing comments aimed at WWE. It also saw a surprising twist in the long-brewing Bullet Club Civil War as longtime members Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa along with King Haku turn on Kenny Omega and the rest of the Bullet Club, minus Fale, Hikuleo, and Ishimori who were not part of the brawl. It also saw Cody and Omega Reunite ending their feud which started the whole Civil War.

The Event also saw Jim Ross injured during Juice Robinson's match with Jay White. The pair ended up on the outside of the ring where they crashed into where Ross and Josh Bennett were calling the action and the table hit Ross. He believes he may have a broken rib but there has been no official diagnosis.

In more serious injury news, IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Hiromu Takahashi suffered a neck injury during his match with Dragon Lee and Dave Meltzer is reporting that he collapsed backstage and may have suffered a broken Neck.

Re: Some Wrestling News

Some sad news out of the WWE universe, first up WWE Hall of Famer and legend Nikolai Volkoff has died at the age of 70. He had been in the hospital just a few days ago for dehydration and other issues. He entered the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005.

While not as well known, Brickhouse Brown has also died, passing away on July 20th after a battle with Cancer at the age of 57. He mainly wrestled in the AWA, USWA, and the CWA and had feuds with the likes of Terry Funk, Scott Steiner, and Jerry "The King" Lawler

And Finally, Brian Christopher Lawler has died at the age of 46. He had been in Jail for a DUI where he apparently hung himself in his cell. He last appeared in the WWE back in 2014 where he and Scotty 2 Hotty appeared at NXT Takeover to battle for the Tag Team Championships as a surprise guest team. There had been some question as to his condition when rumors first started spreading that he had died but his brother Kevin Lawler confirmed the news via Twitter.
