2018 Pilot Season

Pilots are being ordered and casting is about to begin and right now The Walking Dead star Lauren Cohan, Rosario Dawson and Damon Wayans Jr. are leading the charge. As many as a half a dozen pilots are courting Cohan while Waynes Jr. is once again receiving a number of offers for comedies. Dawson has reportedly turned down a couple of offers.

Some other names getting some play are Christina Applegate, Olivia Munn, and Leslie Odom Jr..

A number of actors are returning to the pilot game such as 2 Broke Girls‘ Kat Dennings, Bates Motel‘s Vera Farmiga, and The Americans‘ Matthew Rhys, Underground‘s Jurnee Smollett-Bell, New Girl’s Jake Johnson and Hannah Simone and Grimm‘s David Giuntoli. Newcomer Brandon Micheal Hall appears to have been a break out even though ABC canceled The Mayor. Daniel Dae Kim is free for the first time in years which means several Pilots are looking into him.

Also, add old TV favorites who seem to be looking for a return to TV like Evangeline Lilly, Pushing Daisies Anna Friel, Parenthood‘s Dax Shepard, The Good Wife‘s Josh Charles, Parks & Recreation‘s Nick Offerman and Emmy winner Bradley Whitford.

Some other names getting some buzz this season include Leslie Mann who could make her TV debut, along with Marisa Tomei

The following have also reportedly gotten offers as well Amanda Peet, Naomie Harris, Michael Peña, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Teri Polo, Matthew Broderick, Mathew Goode, Lauren Graham, Saturday Night Live alum Jason Sudeikis, John Cho, John Leguizamo, Patrick Wilson, Mykelti Williamson, Walton Goggins, and Lorraine Toussaint.

It should be noted that Lauren Cohan is still on the Walking Dead but her contract expires at the end of it's 8th season which means she is able to take offers for other shows. Cohan was in talks to renew her contract and wanted a pay increase, she, like all of the female actors make less than the male actors, and she was offered modest salary increase. It's likely that Cohan is leveraging these offers to land a better deal at AMC.

An update to the first post

Lauren Cohan has indeed signed on to star in a new pilot, ABC's Whiskey Cavalier. It's believed she could do both the series and The Walking Dead though TV Line says she is eying an exit from the series.

I'll be posting the network Pilots this week, I hope, as casting is underway and filming will begin next month
